A school is any institution that aims to teach a student. Schools are often structured with dedicated time for each activity and subject. They often include traditional subjects such as English, Mathematics, History, Geography, Art, Music, etc., as well as Sports, Teams, Clubs, etc.

The main objective of a school is to provide a structure where a student can learn. The schools are divided according to primary and secondary school, where the primary refers to the first few years of schooling. Once the student passes through the primary, then he can take on the more intense curriculum of the secondary school.

Schools can also be broadly divided into government and private schools. The government’s schools are funded by the government, and the government takes the responsibility of the school, whereas in private schools, the fees are collected from the students and the private organization of the school handles the management of schools.

Despite whether the school is primary or secondary, or government or private, there is another way to categorize them: into Boarding School and Day School. A day school is the regular school, which students attend during the day. After the classes are over, the students return to their home, only to return the next day. The term day school is also increasingly used for a one-off series of lectures or classes, taking place on a single day, usually on a particular topic and usually directed at adult learners with little time to spare.

A boarding school, on the other hand, is where students live as well as learn. While the students attend school there, they also live there for the duration of the school year. The students are allowed to return home during vacations. The word 'boarding' is used in the sense of "bed and board," i.e., lodging and meals. Often, the teachers and/or administrators also live on campus, however in difference facilities than the students. Some boarding schools may also have day students who attend the institution by day and return off-campus to their families in the evenings. However, majority of the students so live on campus in dormitories.

Each, day school and boarding school, has its own advantages and disadvantages. While the curriculum followed at the schools may be the same, it is generally considered that boarding schools tend to provide a more stable learning structure than home, and may even lead to more discipline. However, living all day in a school environment and away from one’s family can lead one to become disconnected with family and home life. This may lead to severe bouts of homesickness, or may even lead one to believe that the school life is the real life and the home live is a sort of illusion. This may cause difficulties later in to order to re-integrate into a home life.
