Google launched Chrome as a beta version for Microsoft Windows on September 2, 2008. The stable public release followed on December 11, 2008. According to StatCounter, as of September 2012 Chrome had 34% worldwide usage share of web browsers making it the most widely used web browser.

Google has faced exponential growth as a company, mainly due to its products and its particular care for user accessibility. Google has been estimated to run over one million servers in data centers around the world. It has also been estimated to process over one billion search requests and about twenty-four petabytes of user-generated data every day.
