Key Difference: I.C.S.E. stands for Indian Certificate of Secondary Education. It is an examination that is conducted by the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations for Grade X. On the other hand, I.S.C. stands for Indian School Certificate. It is an examination that is conducted by the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations for Grade XII. Thus, the syllabus pertaining to I.C.S.E. exam is known as I.C.S.E. syllabus and the syllabus pertaining to I.S.C. exam is known as I.S.C. syllabus.

The parents want the best for their children and, therefore an emphasis is always laid on the admissions in a good school. The school and the syllabus that is taught in the school are, therefore very essential. The two important boards of India are I.C.S.E. and C.B.S.E. The parents need to select the appropriate board for the children. Both of these boards are highly popular in India and thus, it is sometimes very difficult to find out the differences between them. Thus, the syllabus of both the boards is often compared in order to reach to some decision. It is obligatory for the Schools affiliated with the board to follow the syllabi mentioned by the board.

Courses and the books are also prescribed by the board. The syllabus of this board follows the spiral model. The basic that are taught in the previous class, are taught again in the next class, but this time with more details. However, the introduction is often repeated so that students can easily grasp the content. The emphasis of the syllabus is on the language and literature. Thus students are expected to be confident in talking; arguing, debating, etc. it is preferred by the students who prefer to take their higher education in other countries like U.S.A. and U.K. The projects and lab work are given a lot of importance.

I.C.S.E. stands for Indian Certificate of Secondary Education. It is an examination that is conducted by the  Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations for the standard 10th. The subjects have been divided in two parts. The part I consists of  courses like art, socially useful productive work, physical education, education in Moral and Spiritual Values and a third language from at least Class V to VIII class. The candidates are required to have completed these courses.

Part II consists of two groups. Group I contains compulsory subjects like English, a second language, History, Civics and Geography. A candidate can opt from any two of the subjects from Mathematics, science, economics, commercial studies, technical drawing, a modern foreign language, a classical language, computer science, environment science and agriculture science. Group III contains the list of subjects like computer applications, economic application and commercial application, out of which, the student may choose any one of the subject. In group I and Group II the weightage of external and internal assessment is in the ratio of 80:20. In group III equal weightage is given to both.

I.S.C. stands for Indian School Certificate. It is an examination that conducted by theCouncil for the Indian School Certificate Examinations for Grade 12. The subjects of examination include English as a compulsory subject and a list of elective subjects. The list of electives contains subjects like: geography, sociology, history, physics, biology, chemistry, home science, etc.

All the candidates must give examination for English and exams for three, four or five electives. The result of the Indian School Certificate is based on the external examination at the end of Class XII. The result also considers internal assessment on Socially Useful Productive Work and Community.

As I.C.S.E and I.S.C. have been designed for different grades, this difference is easily reflected in the syllabus of the subjects covered by them. The syllabus of grade 10 includes a wide range of subjects which provides a lot of information and knowledge to the students. Grade 12^th is senior to grade 10^th, and thus the syllabus has been designed to focus on specific subjects deeply. Grade 12th is of great importance and the results obtained in this examination counts in admissions in colleges. Both the syllabi have their own importance and have been crafted with minute details.
