Key Difference: Lipstick and Lip butter are products that are used to groom and protect one's lips. Lipstick is basically a cosmetic product that women apply or use as protection on lips. Lip butter is more of a moisturizing and long lasting buttery or oil ratio ingredient that protects the lips.

Lipstick is a crayon-like oil-based cosmetic used in coloring the lips, usually in a tubular container. Lipstick is vital today. Lipsticks are available in different shades of red, pink, brown, violet, green etc. The most preferable and the popular colors worn by women nowadays are red, brown, maroon and pink. Women usually select shades according to their skin color. They also come in numerous flavors of fruits like strawberry, cherry, grapes, and many more. Nowadays, lipstick is one of the most needed products that one can see in almost every woman’s handbag. Ancient Mesopotamian women were possibly the first women to invent and wear lipstick.

Lip Butter is a cosmetic product, which is mainly applied by those women's who needs long-lasting shining and creamier effect. Lip Butters are similar to lip balms in terms of wrapping but are made with a softer consistency. Lip butter is basically a mixture of lipstick and lip balm. Lip butter is totally different from lipstick. Lipsticks are mainly applied for color on the lips, whereas lip butter is not medicated, but it’s moisturizing and its lasting buttery or oil ratio ingredient protects the lips. It is more comparable to lip balms, but it feels a bit heavier and waxier than normal lip balms. Lip Butter is more preferable for those ladies who have dry lips that tend to crumble. A lip butter can be used instead of a lip stick, as it has a little bit of tint and ends up looking like a very sheer lipstick.
