BehanceIt is generally accepted that any creative professional will have a portfolio. After all, that is how they will be able to show off their work, so that they can pull in more clients. A few years ago, these needed to be in a hard copy, which needed to be lugged around by the said creative professional. However, this is the now the age of the digital, which means that these portfolios need to be upgraded.

Both Behance and Portfolio are services that allow one to do just that. They are primary to be used as an online portfolio, which allows professionals to display their work online. The primary benefit of this is that it is easier to share, i.e. just share the link of webpage, rather than create copies and submit them to each prospective client or employer.

Behance was originally launched in 2005, however, it was purchased by Adobe in 2013. It is an online portfolio website, which basically allows users to create an online webpage and upload their work to it with the intention of showing it off. The primary cliental of the website is creative professionals who use it to show off their projects and talents.

Behance is free to use for all. However, the free account has only limited functionality, such as users do not have a personal URL among other things. Hence, Behance had a ProSite function which provided users with lot more functions. After Adobe acquired Behance, this ProSite was discontinued and reworked and launched as Adobe Portfolio.

Like, Behance, Adobe Portfolio is also intended to be used to create an online portfolio which will show off the work of the users. Adobe Portfolio is clubbed with another of Adobe’s services, i.e. a Creative Cloud account. Hence, Adobe Portfolio is free to use, but only if users have a Creative Cloud membership, i.e. not really free.

Adobe PortfolioAdobe Portfolio in meant to be used purely as an online portfolio, where users can create their own webpage, upload their work, or import it from other places, and use the webpage to showcase their work. However, Behance is much more than that. It is also a job portal, where companies can post their job openings, and users can view them and apply for them.

Still, as it is intended to be the advances version of Behance, it does have some more features, such as it allows for a lot more functionality than Behance. It allows the users to use their own personal URL. It also contains more layouts that are highly customizable, as well as access to thousands of best-in-class fonts with Typekit. It also syncs with Adobe’s other services, such as Lightroom and even Behance, and allows one to import images and projects from there; thus making it easier to create an all comprehensive portfolio.
