Law Enforcement & Police
Legally, murder is the unlawful killing of another person with malice aforethought. Malice aforethought means that the murderer intended to kill the victim with his entire conscious mind. Murder entails that the person was in full control of his senses and that he wanted to kill the victim and may have premeditated the murder beforehand. Manslaughter also entails homicide, where one takes the life of another. The definition of manslaughter differs in different countries, and is usually gauged on the circumstances under which the killing occurred or on the state of mind of the killer. |
Theft is when a person unlawfully takes another person’s belonging with the intention of not returning it. A victim need not be present at the scene for this crime. Robbery is defined by the law as the criminal tries to take something of value from a person by force or intimidation. For this to happen, a victim must be involved. |
Abduction is when someone uses deceit or force in order to take a person or a child away from their home or relatives. Kidnapping is taking away or forcefully transporting a person against their will and holding them in false imprisonment, a confinement without legal authority. The kidnapping is usually done for a motive or for ransom. |
