Difference between Liposuction and Smartlipo

Key difference: Liposuction is a surgery which is carried out to remove the extra fat from the body, whereas; smartlipo is a laser technique of liposuction.

"Liposuction is also known as ''lipoplasty'' ("fat modeling"), which invovles ''liposculpture''; ''suction lipectomy'' meaning suction-assisted fat removal."

Liposuction is a medical surgery method, in which, the extra and excess fats are removed from the body. It is mostly carried out to maintain the physic of the body. The body parts which possess too much fat and which causes problems are removed by this method.

In liposuction, fats are extracted through a hollow tube, which, is also known as cannula. Liposuction is a systematic surgery carried out in the various parts of the body such as abdomen, breasts, hips, outer thighs (saddlebags), flanks (love handles), back, inner thighs, inner knees, upper arms, submental (chin), (gullet), gynecomastia (male breast tissue). It helps in reducing obesity and improving proper functioning of body.

In liposuction the procedures to be maintained are:

To abstract the right amount of fat.
To cause the least disturbance of neighboring tissue, such as blood vessels and connective tissue.
To leave the person’s fluid balance undisturbed.
To cause the least discomfort to the patient.

These are to be taken under consideration, while carrying out the liposuction.

Smartlipo

It’s a laser technique wherein; the fats are made into dissolved form by laser treatment. The laser ruptures the fat cells, which, results into a liquid substance, that is removed with the help of a small incision. The layer so formed gets deposited on the upper surface of the skin.

The fats are cut–off by the laser in smartlipo technique. This technique is generally carried out by giving anesthesia. The surgical part is comparatively less in smartlipo; the extraction of the liquefied fat is carried out through the incision. In this, the heat is generated, which benefits the body’s healing response, and causes the tissues to contract, leaving the skin tighter and smoother in the treated area.
