Difference between iPhone 6 and Samsung Galaxy S5
Key Difference: The biggest and the most debated difference between the two is the fact that iPhone runs Apple’s iOS operating system, whereas Samsung Galaxy S5 runs on Google’s Android. The iPhone 6 co-launched with the iOS 8, while Samsung Galaxy S5 showcases the Android version 4.4.2, also known as KitKat.
include("ad4th.php"); ?>Smartphones are essential in today’s world, even if not for technological purposes, at least for social purposes. Smartphones are a status symbol. Anyone without a smartphone is either considered technologically ignorant or below their status level. Furthermore, the smartphone market is currently led by two competitors: Apple and Samsung. Apple’s iPhones and Samsung’s Galaxy series are constantly competing with each and tries to outdo the other. The latest phones to do this in this series are the Apple iPhone 6 and Samsung Galaxy S5.
The biggest and the most debated difference between the two is the fact that iPhone runs Apple’s iOS operating system, whereas Samsung Galaxy S5 runs on Google’s Android. The iPhone 6 co-launched with the iOS 8, while Samsung Galaxy S5 showcases the Android version 4.4.2, also known as KitKat.
include("ad3rd.php"); ?>While, iPhone 6 is the first phone that Apple has released with a 4.7 inch screen, Samsung Galaxy S5 has a screen size of 5.1 inches. iPhone 6 has a resolution of 1334 x 750 pixels, whereas S5 has a resolution of full HD 1920x1080 pixels. Samsung has often been criticized by Apple fans of creating phones with too large screens. Apple fans often claimed that 4-inch screens were the perfect size. However, with this phone, Apple seems to have jumped into the foray of large screens even if a little late.
Additionally, iPhone 6 does not differ too much from its predecessor, iPhone 5S. Similar to iPhone 5S, iPhone 6 has the aluminium backing and toughened glass front. However, it is slimmer than the iPhone 5S. It has a shatter proof ion-strengthened glass with oleophobic coating. Similarly, Samsung has stuck with what worked for them with Samsung Galaxy S4. From the front, both Samsung Galaxy S4 and S5 look nearly identical. In the back, Samsung has introduced a new motif with dimples. However, the chassis of the phone still feels like plastic.
In terms of hardware, the iPhone 6 features a second-generation, 64-bit, 20 nanometre architecture A8 chipset, which would result in 20% faster performance and 50% faster graphics performance as compared to the iPhone 5S. It also has the M8 motion co-processor, which like the M7 is primarily aimed at fitness applications and can now distinguish between running, cycling and elevation. The Samsung Galaxy S5, on the other hand, features the Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 quad-core processor which clocks at 2.5GHz, and is paired with 2GB of RAM and an updated Adreno 330 GPU.
The iPhone 6 has an all new 8MP iSight sensor with an f/2.2 aperture, 1080p video, digital stabilisation, and true tone flash. The front camera is a 1.2 MP, 720p camera with face detection, for Facetime. The Samsung Galaxy S5 has a 16-megapixel with 5312 x 2988 pixels resolution and a 2 MP 1080p front-facing camera.
Another big difference between iPhone 6 and Samsung Galaxy S5 is that the new Samsung is dust and water resistant, which the iPhone just has not touched yet. The Galaxy S5 has the option of wireless charging as well. Additionally, the Samsung Galaxy S5 has upgraded to the USB 3.0. It also showcases Corning Gorilla Glass 3, which provides more protection than just shatter proof glass with oleophobic coating.
The iPhone 6 comes in storage variants of 16GB, 64GB, and 128GB. The 32 GB option no longer exists. Galaxy S5, on the other hand, comes with an option of 16GB or 32GB plus microSD support for external memory. Both phones also have fingerprint scanners. However, the S5 also comes with a heart rate monitor as well as an updated S Health app. In another point, while Samsung Galaxy phones have included NFC for a while now, Apple has just launched the facility with the iPhone 6. However, it is only useable with the Apple Pay, a service very similar to Google Wallet.
