Google is a multi-national internet corporation. It has many products like Google Search, Google Drive, YouTube, Google Maps, etc. Google Search is the most used web search engine; receiving hundred million queries each day through various sources. The main purpose of Google Search is to hunt for text in publicly. Google Search was originally developed by Larry Page and Sergey Brin in 1997. Google Search provides at least 22 special features beyond the original word-search capability; like synonyms, weather forecasts, time zones, stock quotes, maps, earthquake data, movie showtimes, airports, home listings, and sports scores.

In June 2011, Google introduced "Google Voice Search" and "Search by Image". This helps the users to search words by voice and by using an image. The exact percentage of web pages that Google indexes are unknown, as it is difficult to calculate the accurate number of web pages. In 2012, Google changed its rankings to demote sites that had been accused of piracy (except YouTube). Google has a lot of search results to display in various forms.

Google has a feature called as "Google Doodle". On certain occasions, the logo of Google will be displayed in a picture, drawing, or animation. It is usually done for a special event or day although not all of them are well known. If a user clicks on the Doodle, the Google Search page is displayed which has results for the topic/occasion. Google also identifies the misspelled words in the search box and display results with the correct word search. This is accompanied with a note ‘Showing result for XX’

Bing is a web search engine by Microsoft. Previously, it was also known as Live Search, Windows Live Search, and MSN Search. On May 28, 2009, Bing was unveiled by Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer. Listing of search suggestions while queries are entered and a list of related searches is a notable feature. It uses semantic technology from Powerset which Microsoft purchased in 2008. On July 29, 2009, Microsoft and Yahoo! had a deal in which Bing would power Yahoo! Search. Some noticeable features of Bing are listed below:

  • Change of background image daily. The images are mostly of noteworthy places in the world and contain their information.

  • Bing Mobile allows users to conduct search queries on their mobile devices, either via the mobile browser or a downloadable mobile application.

There many more features that Bing has; however, the content and search engine of Google is undefeatable.
