Key Difference: ‘Experts’ are those who have gained skills through training or practice. On the other hand, ‘Master’ is a person who commands or controls. He is the one who is fully qualified, skilled and experienced in his job .

Experts and Masters are two different words, which may be commonly confused. There is a very slight difference between both the terms. Expert and Master both require a skill.

The word expert is related to ‘experience’, which you have gained through your life. Expert is one who has expertise in a particular field or subject. It is a long process to get the name of ‘Expert’, because a person has to conquer or overcome his subject and has to learn each and everything about his field. Experts are the people who gain that much knowledge, skills and activities, through which they are distinguished by a beginner, the lesser experienced or one who has less skill.

Dictionary.com defines ‘Expert’ as:

• A person who has special skill or knowledge in some particular field; specialist; authority: a language report.
• Military. - The highest rating in rifle marksmanship, above of marksman and sharpshooter. - A person who has achieved such a rating.
• Possessing special skill or knowledge; trained by practice; skilful or skilled (often followed by in or at) : an expert driver; to be expert at driving a car.
• Pertaining to, coming from, or characteristic of an expert: expert work; expert advice.

Master is a term where they denote to have a rank or status to it. Master is the one who has decided to master in a subject. After graduation, students decide to do masters in Masters in Computer Science, Masters in Mass Media, Masters in Computer Applications, Masters in Arts, etc. It takes a long time to master anything. In our history, people with servants, pets, and slaves were also called masters.

Dictionary.com defines ‘Master’ as:

• A person with the ability or power to use, control, or dispose of something: a master of six languages; to be master of one’s fate.
• An owner of a slave, animal, etc.
• An employer of workers or servants.
• The male head of household.
• A person eminently skilled in something, as an occupation, art, or science: the great masters of the Impressionist period.

The expert has much experience than a master in a particular field but a master will always have a good command in it. Some are expert in map-reading, political reading, ancient poetry, etc. All have a different skill to expertise in, but some may need help recognizing where their expertise lies.

Here I want to mention that a true master is not one who has mastered a process, he is the one who has mastered the process of learning about a process.
