Difference between Art and Design
Key Difference: Art and design are two important members of the visual art. Art is all about self-expression, whereas design is intended to communicate the intended purpose in order to solve a problem. Art can be interpreted in various ways, whereas design cannot be interpretive, rather they must communicate efficiently and clearly.
include("ad4th.php"); ?>Art is the self-expression of an artist’s creative or imaginative ideas or emotions. It is very difficult to explain art as it tends to take an abstract form. People often use the word art in context to paintings or sculptures. However, it has applications in diverse fields.
An art is the product of an artist's thoughts related to something. It is often beautiful and appreciated by the art lovers. Mostly, art is associated with the beautiful visual compositions. The relationship between art and design is described in different ways by different people. However, most of them feel that even if they are considered to be different, they tend to overlap each other sometimes.
Design is generally defined as the creation of a designer which is the output of a plan and has been designed to solve a specific problem. A simple sketch of an exterior part of a building is also a design. Therefore, the term design is applied in diverse fields due to its practical usage. Both art and design are related to the visual compositions in a strong manner. Still, art is associated with the creative aspect, whereas design is associated with the structural and practical aspect.
include("ad3rd.php"); ?>Art is driven by the internal constrained which are imposed by the artists themselves. On the other hand, design is generally driven by external constraints (commercial). Art is produced by an artist by adding ingredients of thoughts, imagination and experience too. However, designs are more organized as they tend to be born in order to solve a particular problem; as a solution.
Art cannot be restricted to any limits, it spread it wings depending upon the artist’s imagination, but design is generally bound to follow a certain pattern. Art has no specific practical commercial purpose rather than being an expression of an artist. Designers are mostly aware of many ingredients related to design even before stating the work, like a starting point, etc.
They both also differ in the context to their interpretations. Art provides the freedom to be interpreted in various ways. On the other hand, a design should simply convey the message as desired by the designer. An artist is most often born with the natural talent of being able to produce an art. On the other hand, a designer is often considered to be a person who acquired the skill through learning.
Art can be considered a creative form, whereas design can be considered as a tool.
